M Shadows said this album was inspired by Kanye (who consistently pushes boundries). They are broadening their horizons and experimenting with their music....what's more is they are willing to share it with us to critique (and hopefully enjoy). If you want to listen to old style Avenged Sevenfold, go to one of their older albums, they will live forever! However, Life is But a Dream cannot be compared. Its a different animal. Listen with an open mind. You feel wierd listening to it? That's no accident, so enjoy the journey they want you to experience with it (which is quit a ballsy trip I might add). Musically, this is a masterpiece jammed with a myriad of styles. It's warm, peaceful, perverse, exciting, smooth, rigid, and much more. 10/10 would recommend!
