Witty Ghost

One look at the real ghost will create an impression on even the strongest hearts, and throughout the two hours of the film, you will be see-sawed, from dead-scared to dying of laughter. A word of caution, the film is correctly rated ‘A’ for an adult audience (not only because of the horror-content, but because of the raunchy tone of the jokes). So if you do decide to watch it, maybe avoid going with your family. Otherwise, it’s a full course meal of entertainment and Bollywood masala. In summary, the direction is superb, the dialogues are extremely well written and the storyline is a solid ten. The background score is adequate and the songs are bearable. However, the stellar performances make up for all the discrepancies. Hats off to the team. Stree is definitely worth a watch. We give it 3.5/5.

Gold has many talents. Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Vineet Kumar Singh to name a few. We also see Sunny Kaushal (brother of Vicky Kaushal) in his debut performance. It has a prominent director, Reema Katgi and Farhan Khan’s Excel Entertainment as it’s able production house. The story is strong. What it lacks though, is heart. The film keeps jumping from the personal struggles of Akshay’s character to the struggles of the Hockey Team. The ambiguity continues throughout the film and in the very end, we are unsure of whether we should cheer for India or for Akshay. We give it 3/5.

Karwaan is a road trip through generations. It reminds us how beautiful change is. It reminds us that even the twenty first century has a second gear. Very well written, dialogues are superb and comic timing is on point. No unnecessary melodrama. Irrfan Khan delivers a stellar performance. You will feel happy coming out of the theater. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The film is in reality, a bad biopic. The characters are uni-dimensional, the stories are incomplete and the message is meaningless. The screenplay is painfully biased and the film is heavy on melodrama and scarce in entertainment.

Ocean’s 8 isn’t as brilliant as Ocean’s 11, but not as bad as say, Happy New Year. If you are one of those people who wouldn’t mind watching a semi-faltering film once in a while, as long as the overall experience is a good one, you’d like Ocean’s 8

Meghna Gulzar lets the story do the talking. It is clear that ‘Raazi’ does not require any masala, any embellishments to shine. The team has given you a film to remember. The kind that will stay with you long after you exit the halls. A welcome change from stressful Neeraj Pandey thrillers and unrealistic musicals like Veer Zaara. Raazi depicts patriotism in the way patriotism truly exists. As a belief in the hearts of ordinary individuals. Go and watch the film. Worth every penny. 4/5 stars.

The film in itself is very well made. It gives you all the adrenaline rushes that you deserve and all the dry wit that you can handle. It’s a true Marvel flick and does justice to it’s franchise. Go watch it. Infinity War might leave you with disbelief or wanting more, but it does entertain as promised. We give 3.5/5.

October is a snooze-fest. It tries too hard to fit into the bracket of excellent art cinema. The weak storyline is the culprit. Immature actors are given roles that are too heavy to handle and the film falls apart after the first forty minutes. The only thing that Varun Dhawan brings to October, is subtle humour with his usual antics. The film although well made is a big let down. It’s very realistic, but fails in sparking any emotion in the hearts of the audience. We would rather watch anything other than October this weekend. No one would willingly want to get depressed on a Sunday in a relentless summer in India. This one can be watched during the winter holidays in the comfort of your home. Nothing special about this one.

Rani Mukherjee is the heart and soul of the film, which otherwise lacks a body (despite masterful direction). Die-hard Rani fans will love this treat, but it’s no Mardaani.
