This is a mostly good movie with a solid message and good time travel theme to it.
They work up the drama with some back and forth , before the inevitable time travel occurs.
However, the message is a bit over simplistic and does not make for the best debate materials as it was written for the Church/choir and not outsiders as much, hence why atheists don't understand this film.
The school lectures could have been done better, especially the first one. They could have better explained the cause and effect between more sin, more chaos, and less moral stability in a secular or atheistic worldview without absolute moral standards.
Music was deep, dark, very well done, and their in-between song It's About Time was simple but fun in its portrayal.
Yes, the film is hilarious at times, especially the movie theater freak out scene and Paul Rodriguez.
Me personally, having seen this film since I was 11, I found the sermon scene to be very powerful and well written, especially the quoting of 2 Timothy 3, which convicted me of my sin big time.
This film is also heavily implied to have an End Times theme to it, which is hard hitting. The moral issues they complain about in 2000 are rather tame compared to if this movie was made in 2025.
Basically, the whole them of this movie is that Christianity without Christ is not Christianity, and we should not water down the Gospel for fear of offending people lest our message become distorted.
