My sister borrowed the book from the library. She read it and loved it, so I read it and loved it too. I loved the story so much I had to read it over again. My sister did too. We would talk about this story and the stories within the story. Like the play the kids put on, how it reminded us of a man we met in our grandpas neighborhood while we were out for a walk one day. He was doing yard work and offered us some water, and told us stories from when he was a kid living in the area of the blitz. The look on his face as he remembered what he went through was very captivating for me and my sister. I loved when they banded together and accepted every one and had fun. Remember the cake they hollowed out and filled with dog food for a tea party they thought another group of kids were going to but instead the surprise was on them when it was them who was invited!! I love this story and can go on and on. I guess I understand why a used paperback is selling for $70+ ! :) Enjoy the story if you get to read it.
