I have read the story and listened to it digitally and found that the writing is superb with great detail given to Ichabod Crane's inner most thoughts. Washington Irving does a splendid job capturing the daily life of people who lived in those times. The story also gives you quite a bit of perspective on the writing style and the spoken language of the time which differs from ours greatly. To think that this story is based on actual events whether natural or supernatural does add a bit of spine freezing fear about what it might have been like to be living in a very distant town with a nameless killer walking among you. How that would have changed the very nature of people in tightly knit community is a story to be told. This book is worth the read but beware never to use Necromancy to conjure the Headless Horsemen. There is only two possibilities to consider based on the facts. Either the people Sleepy Hollow or the actual location which is Tarrytown, New York, in fact had a normal killer among them or they encountered a demonic entity who preyed on their superstitious beliefs. Let us find out by finding the diaries of the people of Tarrytown to understand what really happened.

This book is one of very few books that have captured my attention and I finished the book very quickly. There are facts in the book which will have a profound effect on you, if your a person who loves to have the full account given to you. I found the book to be so amazing and easily to read but yet it was talking about very serious subjects that have changed molded the history of the world. This isn't a book that you will read and then place away. Instead you will feel inclined to read again, make notes, and find specific statements that you'll highlight in yellow to always come back to it. This book explains in detail what the Christians were taught by Jesus himself and from his Apostles. You'll find out why the Apostles were killed and why for over 300 years there were arguments on simple doctrines that the Apostles taught and why people rejected them. There is one much to be said about this book, but don't let me ruin the ending or better yet dull the journey that for me was like being on a treasure hunt.
