The first Crash Bandicoot is a bit of an acquired taste especially by today's standards. The game doesn't support analog control, meaning you're stuck with the D-Pad. Despite that, the game controls pretty well and the levels are well designed with this in mind. The level design as a whole is consistently challenging while still remaining a fair experience. Getting all of the gems is really tough, but very satisfying. Lastly, the game has a great sense of progression that keeps it from getting boring. Ignoring the weak boss battles, some frustrating challenges and an archaic save system, this is a good first entry with a lot to offer. Highly recommended.
