Usually enjoy the work of the main actors in this film. Usually enjoy films that 'push the envelope' a bit and maybe make you consider something from a different perspective. Unfortunately, this film accomplishes none of those things.
The story is slow-moving; the pace crawls most of the time. Just when you think there is a 'pay-off' coming, some insight or event about to happen....nothing happens. Or something happens but is never explored, explained or taken further. The ending is flatter-than-flat, leaving you looking at the screen saying "that's it??" A story is supposed to have a beginning-middle-end. There is no "end" here.
There is lots of potential here, in my opinion - with the actors and the story - but it isn't actualized in this movie. Thought Kevin Bacon had the best role/performance in the movie.
If you want to watch a MUCH better story about human behavior and the potential end-of-the-world, watch Rod Serling's Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" - which accomplishes more in 30 min with a cast of mostly virtually unknown actors, than this film did in over 2 hours with well-known actors.
