Okay...I don't want to write this just to be mean...but as beautifully done as the art, character models and little animated sections are, it's not enough to make up for the repetitive, frustrating, game play due to the obtuse level design and over saturation of enemies in each room. It becomes esspcially boring when you realize that the most efficient way to travel is to just commit suicide and then fast travel when you respawn.
Enemies hit way too hard considering the 2d environment restricts movement and slow animations lock you into eating hits. Meaning that you just wait A LOT for openings. It's all rather, un-dynamic.
A lot of metroidvanias (esspcially 2d ones) would be better served by STAYING AWAY from the "Dark souls," side of the family tree.
