I was pleasantly surprised by this action packed film. Admittedly some overused themes, but I haven't smiled that much in a movie in a very long time. The script was packed with wit, more action sequences than a Jason Bourne flick, awesome hand to hand fight scenes, and several surprises. The ending is not what I expected. Don't worry, no spoilers here, just pleased again that it wasn't all too familiar from start to finish. Thank you, fantastic movie!

So first of all I'm very surprised at how well the movie was made. Nothing about the movie felt cheap or poorly done. I thought the acting was great and the cinematography and visual effects were fantastic. I rated four stars because I agree with the comments that Valerian and his partner had a week dynamic from the get-go. Really I had a hard time with valerian's actor. I just didn't like him. It's not that his acting sucks, I just don't think the character they chose to play Valerian is a believable hero. He was confident and he had the moves, but I can't buy into him as a body guard type operative hero guy. Replace him with a Chris Pratt or Tom Cruise and you've got yourself a five-star movie. Despite him I loved the movie, which says a lot.
