Save your time and watch one of the good documentaries out there or a previous dramatisation. Slow, ponderous, unnecessary character focus and terrible direction. On top of that I had to watch it through the terrible ITVX app. A series that should be riveting saw me forwarding through yet another unnecessary scene zoomed into someone’s face looking like they were going to cry, 5min-long dialogues and interviews used for padding scenes. Only the last 45mins of the last episode was worth watching. I discovered the director and one of the producers were responsible for “Des” and it made sense. No subtlety at all, over-focus on emotions of the face, poor storytelling. ITV used the budget for actors and production quality and then get crew that produce by numbers. They know audiences will still watch shows about major crimes such as this so don’t bother to ensure a story flows. Will avoid in future.
