I was hooked from the beginning. Yes it’s dark. Yes it’s gothic, but I found this interpretation of Batman to be epic, not over reaching as some have criticized. Matt Reeves takes such incredible care with every scene, it’s a visual masterpiece.
And the acting exceeded my expectations.
I’m a huge fan of Christian Bale as the Batman but not once did I think of him watching this.
Robert Pattinson was incredible. He made the role his own. I was honestly worried about Pattinson as Batman but he pulled it off.
It wasn't just Pattinson, though, everyone's performance was incredible. I though Zoe was the best depiction of Catwoman since Michelle Pfieffer. And Paul as the Riddler, he was so incredibly unsettling, in the way you’d want him to be. I admit I LOVE Heath Ledger as the Joker, but Paul’s depiction of the Riddler, even though his scenes were limited was powerful. Even the other villains, were REALLY well depicted. Raw, real, I like how the film was gritty and didn’t water down the atrocities the villains committed (as in other Batman movies).
While the movie is long, it’s extremely engaging and I thought the plot was really well thought out. I wasn’t bored.
All in all, it was an amazing cinematic experience (saw it in IMAX), visually stunning, great theme music, well acted and worth the watch!!!
