Terrible adaptation of the books. They spent far too much time on less interesting and relevant aspects of the books than I could ever have conceived while spending little to no time developing the main characters and key plot lines. Additionally, the casting and writing are often mediocre and could easily have been remedied by just using the material from the book. Overall, this show is a huge disappointment. I love the books and made the mistake of rereading many of them during the ramp up to the show. Additionally, it’s even more disappointing because game of thrones proved this type of undertaking can be successful. I’ll provide a simple heuristic to sum up my review - imagine game of thrones with worse acting, worse character development, and every adaption choice made was a bad one. Imagining that gives the wheel of time in a nutshell.
