Honestly one of the worst films I have ever watched. The screenplay for a start was atrocious, I was cringing the whole time. I have read the book and I thought that a very important aspect of the novel was that Lily herself got hit by her father while getting caught in the middle of her parents, and the reason as to why I found this important was that she realised after she gave birth that she didn't want history to repeat itself and for that to be the case for her daughter. This part was left out of the film which I highly resent. I also highly disregard the marketing for the film, and I know some might say that shouldn't be included in the review, but I have to disagree as all aspects surrounding a film are taken in, weather consciously or not when people form their opinions. I believe the marketing to be disgusting as they marketed it as a silly, cutesy, rom-com. Saying to grab your friends and wear your florals when they film is about a dark topic, that would be like marketing The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by saying grab your Jewish friends and wear your pyjamas and come down and watch the film, its genuinely concerning. Overall I hated the film and I hope nothing like this will ever be repeated.
