I don’t know what I expected, but Jesus Christ the children (and the world) deserve better. I TRULY had low expectations going into this, and in true limbo-world-champion fashion it crash landed and exploded FAR below the bar. The animation is perfect - too perfect. Illumination had nailed this cutesy colourful fun style. They have also, in this case, nailed how to suck the life and joy out of almost every idea and performance in this story. It may have been doomed from the start with the casting of Pratt, but come on, not even one of the many talented supporting cast could save it either. (Jack Black comes closest, or was it the nihilist luma-like being?) (it was) I was baffled by any and all laughter the film falsely bribed out of the audience. Truly I was bored. Is there anything good here? I donno. (See: nihilist Luma) They tried lol It’s Game Over big time for this one.
