Despite the book being initially interesting and unique, the characters are too irritating to read about and it was hard to finish this book. Harden has a short temper, is violent, insensitive, possessive, arrogant, abusive and impulsive. Even though I do have sympathy for Tessa, she values her lust for Hardin too highly, destroying her mental health in the process of being with him. This book romanticises a toxic relationship, romanticises the man who treats you badly and portrays the respectful, nice guy as boring. The story is a cycle that never ends, of the two fighting, making up and being physical. Seeing first hand the effects of the qualities Harden embodies, trust me, it’s not sexy at all.

Pixar always delivers when it comes to bringing us creative, memorable and unique films. The film opens up to city where the elements water, earth, fire and wind, live together “harmoniously”. Ember, the main character, is firish and is due to take over her family’s shop. This movie is in its core a story revolving around the strong bond between a father and daughter as well as a romance between two characters who “shouldn’t be together”. There are so many more themes viewers can connect to, such as the experiences of immigrant families and the burden of generational expectations. This movie had so many layers to its story, never once will you be bored; Being incredibly emotional, it made me cry several times, sometimes just because of the beauty of the animation and the world that was being created. The main character has a realistic and satisfying arc. She meets someone that helps her realise what she’s been feeling and lacking her entire life. The relationships and connections between characters gave it so much heart, as well the amazing character building this movie achieved. I can tell when a movie is good when I become sad it’s finishing, so please give this one a try!
