Need For Speed Unbound may be the worst nfs game ever. This game is grindy. In order to progress into the story you have to win races, these races take place in only about four different locations which are lame and uninteresting. In order to upgrade your car to its max level it will cost you about $250K which makes upgrading the cars take forever. and you have to pay your in game money in order to participate in races which gets very annoying when you do a race that "pays $10,000" but you had to add $5000 of your own money to "buy in" to a specific race, so the actual payout is only 5k. Each race, especially at the beginning only pays out around $2500-$5000. Each race gives you a higher heat level meaning the cops will chase you. as you build heat from the cops, it will get to a point where the game basically becomes unplayable even on the easiest difficulty. you do race after race- making almost no money- and running from the police constantly. in order to bank your cash, you have to drop your cash off at a safehouse, but doing so will advance your game a day, which means that you cant do all of the events unless you constantly want to have the maximum heat level at all times. If you get caught by the police, you make no money for the day. This becomes a problem because the game is on a schedule. If you dont have enough money by the day of the "big race" at the end of the week(in game) you have to restart the day before and try again to make enough money to do the "big race". This might sound like an interesting feature but unfortunately that means you have to re-listen to the awful voice acting and writing. The AI cheats. They arent affected by npc traffic. So if YOU crash into a car, you get reset and sent back a few places. If an AI racer hits an npc car, they simply dont collide and this gives them an unfair advantage. They will also sometimes glitch into first place all of a sudden and if you come in any other place besides 1st, you wont make as much money from the race, meaning you may have to do another race in order to afford the part to make your car a better level. The story is so cringe. A 4 year old who is addicted to TikTok, wrote this story. The voice lines are enough to make you gag at how bad annoying and cringy they are. I miss the old NFS campaigns where the story essentially consisted of a person telling you what to do and that was it. Win races, Get money, Upgrade your car, run from police who werent overly annoying and make the game unfun. How hard is that to do? Need for speed heat got it right. The graphics were good, the soundtrack was good, the car handling was good. The cops were a challenging but fun mechanic. It had lots of car customization and a less cringy story. How they could screw it up so bad is crazy. All the budget for this game went to ASAP rocky for his cameo, NOTE: CELEBRITY APPEARANCES DO NOT MAKE GAMES MORE FUN. Just focus on fun gameplay and lots of variety in customization. The customization of vehicles in this game actually wasnt so bad, and being able to create a character/driver was cool too, but they only give you hypebeast clothes from ZUMIEZ to choose from so your character will always look like a millennial metrosexual. Its too bad. I really wanted to like this game.
