It is too bad that after the first two or three showings, the series continued to get worse with each proceeding episode.. The writing, plot and especially a few of the characters just are not believable far too often. In fact, the program is filled with so many "Jumping The Shark" episodes that it finally became simply too insulting to the intelligence to continue watching. This, despite my fondness for several of the main actors in the series. For instance, during the episode where VP MacLeish loses his life, the FBI show up complete with video and audio surveillance to secure their evidence against the Vice President, and yet afford but a single agent to apprehend him. That's right a single agent, who by the way had the killer sneak up behind her and shoot the VP dead, despite all the electronic surveillance focusing on him. And it just kept getting stupider and stupider with each following week. I can only pray that they do a major overhaul of the writing and writers when it is picked up by Netflix this season. And attempt to make this at least somewhat believable again. A series only gets so many "Jumping The Shark" episodes before the network puts it out of it's misery. However, this show survived its fatal cancellation at least one season too late, But that fatal bite is inevitable if major changes are not implemented. It is just a matter of time. By the time ABC gave up on it, Designated Survivor had slipped deep into the very bad category. One of my biggest problems with the show is one of the lead characters. Ms. Hanna Wells (Jane Bond) an FBI agent who should have been dressed in a cape and mask. This character is absolutely ridiculous. She stands about 5ft 2 in" and weighs 90 lbs and yet Hanna is constantly throwing around 6ft 5 in, 240 lb men like they are rag dolls. That character is laughable and needs to become a little (lot) more realistic, to put it mildly. The current female James Bond thing they have her portraying her as is just so ridiculous. She ruined almost every episode she played a lead in. I got a strong urge to turn the channel each time she does another one of her unbelievable feats. Finding missing criminals with zero evidence of their whereabouts, taking on international rebel armies and white supremists' like they were bugs. She can simply do anything and never follows orders because she always knows best. And she always gets her man!!!! Way too much for anyone with a normal dose of common sense. A lot like the whole show.
