What an amazing book! A must read! We all often think that one who doesn’t leave their abuser doesn't really want to. Maybe they don’t have it in them. However, this book gives you an inside picture into the mind of the victim. How it’s not all black and white but there’s a lot of grey in there. Lily, being such a strong women had her moments of doubts, where she thought Ryle was the one for her and how it was so hard for her to take the decision of leaving him, yet she did, for her daughter.
Hoover, with her simplistic writing style had left me hooked to this book. Couldn’t leave it in between. A lot of the lines from this book are thoughts that we have on daily basis. But to hear them from someone else and that too so aptly phrased leaves you stunned.
One of the best lines from this book is where Lily’s mom says to her; “If Ryle truly loves you, he wouldn’t allow you to take him back”.
