What did I just read…
One of the first things that I’d told about Juliet is that she’s 13. And I couldn’t shake that off throughout the entire book. Romeo and 16 and the guy Juliet was supposed to marry, Paris was in his 20s. I get that was the norm when it was written but it’s still weird to see. The story made sense up until Romeo got banished then the plot started melting together. At the end Juliet takes poison to fake her death so Romeo can come get her but she never told him about this so he thought she was actually dead and he ended up killings himself for a girl he’s known for like three days which is the dumbest “love” plot ever. They didn’t feel true love they were just attracted to each other and went with it. I feel like it’s trying to promote weird age gap obsession secret relationships to a bunch of teenagers which isn’t good. None of the characters are likable and I wanted to bang my head against a wall throughout this entire thing. It was so corny
