No, it is not odd that the United States is not mentioned in the Bible. The people writing it thousands years ago did not even now the world was round. Believing in biblical prophecies is ridiculous. No, this is NOT a Christian nation. The founding fathers and writers of the constitution deliberately separated church and state. The religious wars of Europe had taught them how dangerous to human life, dignity and freedom theocratic states were.
The Bible is a powerful philosophical tool full of metaphor to guide daily life filled with love and acceptance of our fellow beings but deadly and oppressive if used to find literal reality and inform crazy prejudice.

I think this movie ranks as one of the best movies of all time. Too nitty-gritty for namby-pamby Academy Awards.
There are very few perfect movies where every frame is spare, clean, perfect and every performance Oscar worthy. Casablanca, Cool Hand Luke, Last Picture Show, and Florida Project. It is that good! DaFoe should have gotten Best Supporting Actor for certain.
