Terribly magical with stellar animation, although it seems like a mean spirited film sometimes.*(SPOILER)* After Keagan's grandfather dies, the wild isn't kind to him afterwards. His candy gets stolen by frogs(which was meant to make him feel better after his grandpa kicked the bucket, mind you), he gets attacked by a black sheep, ends up in a sheep stampede, and his headphones are eaten by the black sheep. He even almost drowned after his "friend's" pet sheep knocks him over into the river. But it's alright, he ended up someplace •~*magical*~• after these animals treated him terribly and he practically almost dies in the water. I felt annoyed on Keagan's behalf. And we're even meant to care about the frogs' missing tadpole baby? I wouldn't sympathize with frogs after they've taken all my candy. Other than that, it's an okay film. Nothing too extraordinary. It's on the same par as Netflix's Scrooge movie. Just Netflix trying to emulate Disney.

Beautiful television series, yet proceed with discretion about the themes below when watching with child: Main girl having depictions of her arm bones getting broken through a cartoon x-ray Love triangles between teen characters Characters dying off screen, implied death Characters going through peril and losing loved ones Slight sexual themes- (18 year old barbarian prince is shown with his shirt off and the girls leering at his bare torso, not too much nudity shown), (Barbarian prince asks Chimi if she could ride him, which is played as a double entendre in the show), (mentions of Maya's dad cheating on her mom with the goddess of death) (SPOILERS) Although, the relationship dynamics are confusing. The skull girl(Chimi) was all over the place. She had chemistry with Rico, and then Picchu(buff 18 year old barbarian guy) stole Rico's chemistry with Chimi. Sad. When the macho barbarian prince died, she got back infatuated with Rico. She started to slightly crush on bat Prince, Zatz. So was Maya. She started liking the same macho 18 year old barbarian for his burliness, and then has some love-hate tension between her and Zatz. It's nice to see relationship development prevail over crushes and infatuation in this show, depicting the true difference between the two for kids to understand.

This movie was very compelling and emotional. So much so, my hyperactive nephew actually SAT down and watched it. It's VERY hard to get him to sit down and watch T.V. in one spot. His eyes were glued to the screen the entire time. He was confused about the gay part, but that's okay and it didn't ruin the movie for both of us. The gay men were tastefully represented and their romance felt very natural. But that's not the only important part, the important parts were the enjoyment, laughter, and sadness we felt during the lapse of the movie. I wish I saw it for the first time all over again. Truly a diamond in the rough of pandering films this year. If you seek memorable characters, funny interpersonal dynamics, comedy, great gay representation, emotional rollercoasters, then I recommend Nimona highly.
