I really liked how engaging and thrilling the novel was. It had elements of humour in it, brotherhood, romance, jealousy, heartbreak, scandals, espionage, mystery and finally a happy ending - all stringed together perfectly. Moreover it had contemporary political and societal issues that were safely incorporated. Several real-life references, like that one detail about some constable watching "tiger zinda hai" and all, keep the reader engrossed till the end. Definitely loved the story-line, the drama and the adventure. Easy read. I would rate it a 9.5-10/10.

It was a good book overall. It has several elements of humour in it. Considering it was written from the pov of a teenager, i would say the frequent pointless digressions and repetitions were justified - since a teenage mind is rarely very organized or clear. The lack of plot would also add to the fact that teenagers don't always have a definition or direction to their life yet. The book also compells one to believe that any sort of childhood trauma may or may not have made Holden this bitter towards everything. The death of his brother and a couple of his classmates must have surely had a negative impact on him. Also the message behind the title of the book adds a charm to it. And it can be backed up by how Holden tries to rub off all the cuss words from her sister's school cuz he wanted to protect them from the world that he found himself tangled in too soon. I wouldn't give it all five stars cuz it wasnt the best book I've read but I'm compelled to think from all the other reviews that i might change my views on it if I read it a few years later so yea lol
