It's as if the writers had thrown every awful stereotype character/plotline/crass dialogue/goodies and badies/psychological mumbo-jumbo into a food blender to come up with this utter nonsense. Nothing about it made any realistic sense. I watched it because it was so rivetingly bad that I became compelled by it. By the end I felt as if I had taken a handful of the nasty old drugs themselves!
