I found the movie very upsetting. It made me cry. I felt that the naming of the "queen of sheba" and the dismissive treatment of the boy as "only interested in one thing" being perhaps a bias of the author/director. It didn't rest well me and felt like it lack compassion and heart. I think we are made to sympathise more with a dead cat than a 15 year old child. But then maybe that is me missreading the movie. Great acting from the cast. But it felt very toxic towards male children.

I really enjoyed the feminist angle of this film. It has some common ground the Monster from 2003. So if you like that film you may like this one—also, Mona Lisa and The crying game. Another film it reminds me of is Mirrormask. so if you like neil gaiman then again you may enjoy this film.

Biblical violence. This Rambo is very much in the 'vein.' of the previous movie. Gone is the light-hearted action first blood part 2 and 3. Some of the kills are elobarote and reminiscent of the saw franchise in their brutality, but with stronger emotional intelligence. Character development is enough to propel the short runtime. the kills come in military batches like some of the Halloween movie in 2018. There is a castration which mimics a real life gang attack from a Mexican gang earlier this year. It attempts to infuse feminist ideologies of patriarchal society with some intelligent female protagonists and antagonists. But lacks the cultural depth of breaking bad.

It is similar to Gasper Noe's previous movie, Enter The Void; But the pacing is tighter. The dancing and camera work compliment each other well and succeed in building and releasing tension.Characters are limited in development. With the child taking on the role of ego death where the remaining cast fail. Violence is shocking but more artistic than say the kill scenes in Dead Man's shoes.
