I just watched Kingsman: The Secret Service for the first time yesterday on a flight home from the UK. And, you know what? A film with no faults is no film. I enjoyed this movie. There were things I would change if I could - especially being one of those "feminazis" as I have been called so many times. However, the women in this movie (with the exception of one controversial scene towards the end) were treated like humans. In almost every way that female geeks and nerds have been begging for for years. The main female character does not fall in love with the main male character - in fact, they become good friends with absolutely zero uncomfortable or sexual tension. The female villain is an excellent fighter. She's not put in unrealistic tight dresses and 7 inch heels (for obvious reasons actually) for her fights. Also, /!\ SMALL EARLY SPOILER /!\
I may have overthought this, but the first death in the movie was one of the only 2 women in the training course. This means that both of the women in the course are shown to be somewhat incompetent - one by her fear of heights or her wariness of her tasks, and the other by literal death!
It was an amazing movie otherwise. I love spy movies and will definitely be watching the others in the series. 3 out of 5 stars - I rarely give a 5.
