I've been playing Sonic games since they came out. I've played them all. This game is just awful. They tried too hard with it, it's almost like Super Mario Bros Wii but in Sonic form. The levels aren't bad but the boss fights are just ridiculously difficult to beat, they give few rings and the boss has "stages" to their battle form. The special stages are so bizarre to the point Sonic is swinging like Tarzan to get the emeralds. The Final boss is just insanely hard to beat to the point I probably had one more hit but Sonic died and I literally turned it off cause I was going to punch the t.v. Sonic should not be this hard to beat, at least this kind of Sonic game. "Sonic Frontiers" made sense to be difficult cause it was an RPG. THIS IS A SIDE SCROLLER. What in the hell was Sega thinking making this game so difficult!? This is the worst Sonic game since Sonic 2006. Not pleased at all. At this point, I'm going to beat it cause I already invested time in it and never play it again. Good thing is was on sale for $35.00 cause it certainly isn't worth the $65.00 they wanted when it came out. What a joke.
