Minari is a gentle story but entwined with heartbreaking realism and personal decisions. Monica really does not have the dream her husband Jakob has. When Jakob sets out to realise his dream, he comes to the point where he must keep true to himself and push forward to realise his dream. The resulting schism between him and Monica provides the delicate but heart breaking discussion of their destiny. Glorious performances of Grandma, David and Jakob himself keep the viewer involved in this lovely cinematic treat. We are given time to enjoy the moment, the scenery and the characters. Funny, heartwarming and enveloping, Minari spreads its love to all. Little David performs as an excellent child. Cute.
