This book was probably one of the best stand-alone books I have read. It is not a part of a series yet the plot unfolded beautifully. So much action and adventure was packed into that book, with a satisfying romance side too. It was actually recommended to me by an 8th grade teacher, but I ended up taking it up in my own spare time. It never gets boring and is a relatively fast action book. The plot line was unique and had twists and turns that one may not expect. The characters were well developed too. I want to talk a little bit about the romance in this story. The romantic sub plot was developed very well, and the romance that played out did not seem forceful. In stand-alone books, sometimes things can feel rushed or forced or incomplete, but this novel did a good job of preventing any feelings like that. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone that wants a quick yet thrilling read to pass time.

I loved the first two books of the Throne of Glass series, but this one was extremely hard to finish. It was very slow, the events unfolded very slowly. In most of the book, she was depressed, which was for good reason, but that made it extremely boring to read. It was repetitive and even her honor and strength seemed to diminish. I was unimpressed, especially since I expected more with the ending in the book before. They did introduce new characters and a whole new kingdom, so it was interesting to see how these people behave and their way of life compared to the original kingdom's. This book did not contribute much to the series. Things did speed up near the end, and it went uphill from there. Overall, I feel this was a slow and boring "filler episode" in a overall very good series.

Myths have always peaked my interest. Many times, while reading myths, I will stumble upon many different versions of the same myth, making things become very confusing. This book very clearly shows all sides of the story. This book shows stories from each character (god and goddess') point of view. We will read something, only for it to be cancelled out by another telling. This may get confusing overtime, but in the end it really comes together. This book also clearly states the names before hand, helping us tell the difference between the original egyption names and the greek names. The subject itself is very confusing, but after reading this book I finally got a clear understanding of egyption mythology like never before. This book was also very entertaining to read, and I could not put it down. It felt as if I was interviewing each god and goddess. The book itself is very attractive, with even pictures along the way. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about the myths of Ancient egypt. I also personally feel that even if children have the patience to read this book, that they would not grasp most of it.

This book was fun to read. Pirateology is good for any kids just wanting to pass time. It is very interactive and hands on, which would peak an interest in many kids. There was a code we even had to solve to complete the story. I found reading the book a little slow, the writing was in different sizes so some of it was hard to read. The knot tying instructions were a little off, and found it hard to follow. There were many pictures that were very well drawn, and it was fun to see. I like how in the midst of all this, there is a story to follow. And in the end, the story really comes together. The ending surprised me and I personally feel that it made the whole book worth reading. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to simply pass time or children that are patient enough to read all the text.
