The Rookie has a good cast. The plots are reasonably believable, but of as much interest is the revelations about the character's wives and how internal police station conflicts get handled. The Rookie acknowledges flaws in the post George Floyd America and doesn't try to sugar coat them. I particularly like the lawyer character who is married to the cop, as well as John's training officer from 2019 onwards. This show, frankly, deserves a greater audience and is well worth renewing until the day it finally jumps the shark, which hopefully will be several seasons from now.
