Played since generation 1, and have to say this is one of the laziest games since X & Y. Tons of frame rate issues, bugs, and texture issues that take me out of the world. Certain parts of the world look really good, but with pop ins and low res eye sores taking your attention. The game’s Max raid feature is fun in my opinion and a nice addition, yet the biggest glaring issue with this game is PACING. You’re able to have a level 100 within the first 8 hours of the game by doing max raids due to insanely game breaking xp candies and a forced XP all. This makes your team severely over leveled, taking any challenge from the game. As insult to injury, there are 61% of the Pokémon missing from the Pokédex (over 450 that we’re previously in the game) along with a very limited post game. The jump from the 3D’s to switch is very much appreciated, yet the lack of effort shines through. If you like 3D models and some semblance of a challenge, I recommend XD gale of Darkness(2006). It has everything this game doesn’t: Effort, Care, Interesting story, and a reason for a limited dex. And not because they’re “remaking models from scratch”, which was dishonest. Also, no voice acting when the opening scene is a dude speaking to a crowd for 5 min? The text bubbles and roaring crowd while watching empty lips moves was slightly unnerving..
PSA: one thing Pokémon always does well is it’s music. The scores absolutely slap and I recommend checking them out on YouTube. The gym battle theme, and Toby Fox’s to name a few.
