Though the animation and graphics were outstanding to look at, the writing, story, and voice acting wasn't super great IMO. The writing seemed to focus more on making references to the game and less on building an actual story that made sense. The movie felt like it was meant for people just getting into Mario instead for people who were already invested in it or grew up with it. Same with the voice acting. The voice acting felt lazy and undecided for. Like all they did was pick recognizable people kids could easily point out instead of choosing people who actually sound like the characters (absolute no offence to the voice actors though). They focused more on the graphic design and references than the story, just threw things together and shrugged it off because "It's Mario." People are just going to see the characters, see the graphics, and see the millions of references and automatically call it a 10/10 movie because, again, "It's Mario!" and people will understand it right off the bat. But please, take my opinion with a grain of salt. I have no say whether you think it's a good movie or not. :)
