I had to read The Glass Castle for a AP Summer reading. I was really bummed that I had to read a book, but the Glass Castle changed my perspective in reading. The glass castle has to do with the hardships the Walls Family has to go through as a family. It’s so beautiful how much they care for each other. Even tho the parents made the whole book a terrible reading experience (it makes you want to throw the book across the room) the way Jeannette Walls describes how much she cares for them is amazing. It really makes you want to forgive them for everything they put their kids through but it’s just not possible. Even though both the parents were terrible and wouldn’t have had kids if they weren’t financially stable, the mom IS SO IMMATURE, SELFISH, and GREEDY. She shouldn’t thought things through before having kids. In my opinion mom should really feel bad for the lives that she gave their children, she had countless of opportunities to redeem herself but she never did. And dad want a saint their, he ruined many many family occasions with his terrible addiction that lead to his death. Overall I loved the book and would give it a 10/10. It’s so beautiful it ALMOST makes me forgive them.
