Five stars for the acting. Colin Farrell is quite simply outstanding, and not far behind is the formidable Brendan Gleason. There is a disturbing turn of events as the film progresses, which is far from comfortable, highlighting as it does, the loneliness and repression - and indeed mental health - of a dying community on a remote island during the time of the Irish civil war. A powerful and excellently directed film.
