It's one of my favourite books. I like how it's not just a love story or a girl chasing her dreams, but it shows real world, sensitive problems like child labour, poverty, racism and (sort of) taking advantage of women. I'm not entirely sure about the last one but a man proposes a girl only because she is pretty and can sew, and doesn't care for her.
