Fantastic game. I’m obsessed. Is it perfect? Nope. But it’s damn good. The cyberpunk setting is perfectly executed and reminds me of the first time I saw Bladerunner. The gameplay is super fun and additive. Leveling up your character and creating the perfect build is a blast. Some performance issues aside, I have only a couple things I’d really like to see. The game needs a New Game+ desperately. It’s not that the game is short (although after beating the game I didn’t want it to be over), but what’s the point of building up my perfect cyber super soldier and leveling all my weapons if there’s nothing left to do? Side quests sure but I want the freedom to re-experience the campaign with a fully decked out kit. Speaking of which, the game needs a transmog system. There are some really cool looking armors but I never use them because they don’t have the stats for higher level stuff. Players need to be able to change their armor appearance to suit their vibe. Lastly, we need some kind of end game content, like a Diablo 3 kinda thing. Taking on increasing difficult levels of enemies to test builds and skill. Or something along those lines. Some content to take your maxed out character into. Anyway the game is great. I’ll definitely be following the developer and if Ascent 2 turns up down the road they’ve got my pre-order.

The game is fantastic, but lends itself to toxic behavior and griefers. Accomplishing ANYTHING takes FOREVER and progress can be completely destroyed by enemy pirates. It's not uncommon to sink 3-4 hours into a quest only to have all your loot stolen and your progress reset. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done. Trying to correct these things about the game would ruin other things. It's best to think of it as an objective based PvP game. You try to get loot, others try to steal it. If you accept that you're constantly going to be hunted and attacked by pirates who want nothing more than to ruin your day you'll have a good time. It's a great game if you can handle it, but it's definitely not for everyone. Just remember: It is a pirate game after all. As the saying goes, it's Sea of Thieves, not Sea of Friends.
