Spencer has breathtaking visuals, detailed costume design, and a wonderful tour de force performance by Kristen Stewart. I personally loved this movie as it showed only three days of Princess Diana's time during the Christmas Holiday with the royal family and her struggle to break free from their hold on her.
Warning: This is not your typical Biopic. If you love the Crown, you might walk away from this film disappointed and wanting something more concrete. Director Pablo Larrian wanted to dive into Diana's psyche and break the idea that she was the perfect princess as portrayed in the media. There are quite a few abstract elements to the film such as out-of-body experiences in cutaway scenes, ghost hauntings, and a lot of Princess Di walking around and staring into the abyss that most likely didn't happen in real life.
However, viewers are warned with the caption that this is a "fable" drawn on true events. The more down-to-earth scenes are with Diana's children (where I think Kristen really shines) and with her hairdresser Maggie (played by Sally Hawkins where there is a surprise twist towards the end).
Overall, come awards season, Kristen will for sure get nominated for this luscious performance!
