Touching story with sensitive performances and real life drama which truly reflects life in sixties London in the last few years before the contraceptive pill became widely used. A believable interpretation of the book which I read with tears in my eyes as a teenager. A cautionary tale, perhaps. Also shows how people struggled after the war and retained their humanity in straightened circumstances.
