River into Darkness is very much a dated book within the Pathfinder Sphere. It has a few too many Colonial esque elements for comfort, and very much tries to push this very "Like both sides aren't good people." which has disturbing connotations and while an interesting thought piece it comes across more of saying "Both your choices are cruddy options...but one is justifiably cruddy and the other one pays more so...decisions."
