THE INVITATION (HIGH REVIEW)-3/10 I understand the concept and intention but the execution was poor. Slightly forgiven due to the lack of depth the general idea possesses. The pace was poor. It took too long to get to the action and the switch from humour to “horror” was off. Decent acting, waste of a cast unfortunately. It is not a movie with consistent thriller. A Midsommar meets Van Helsing movie with a subtle integration of comedy, almost felt like a parody at times and a lot of scenes were cliché with the absence of logic. Most scenes were too predictable. The on-screen chemistry between Nathalie Emmanuel and Thomas Doherty at the early stages of the movie could not save this movie from mediocrity. MID. Tried to do too much and the connection was weak, got to a point where I was uncertain what genre the movie was. Climax 💀
