I loved this movie it kept me in suspense and it really threw me for a loop in the end.
I personally think that Perry's depiction of Melinda was was a lot deeper than many people see. Black women are depicted as angry and demeaning to men. Women portray men as users and con artists. In Perry's movie you get to see both sides of the coin in the same movie.
The audience wants someone to root for but in real life there is no hero and villain, but rather a series of sides to the same story. And when this happens there is no happy ending, we dont hear about happy endings in the news.
The fact that black men struggle to get anywhere without connections and that many times black women are expected to marry money or else work to death and settle are both depicted here.
To be honest i believe that people are mad at this movie because it doesn't fit into the cookie cutter design majority of movies take. It speaks reality rather than fantasy. I can believe this story to be true more than many other movies out today and that speaks to me.
