This movie is perfect for building background knowledge for what life was like as Germany started infiltrating into surrounding countries pushing Jewish people into concentration camps. I use this movie prior to reading Lois Lowry's Number the Stars with my 5th graders at the end of the year. It helps students to be able to visualize the book as we read, keeping them engaged plus aiding in building comprehension.
