Legacies is an okay show. I was excited to watch it, as being a huge fan of the TVD series, I wanted some closure after all my favorite characters were killed off in The Originals. aka Hayley and Klaus. Legacies failed to even dig a little deeper into Hope's family and origins but focused more on relationships that were always wishy-washy, monsters, Alaric Saltzman battling with himself, and barely had any suspense or character development whatsoever.
I did appreciate a few concepts, such as Josie's dark side, Hope shutting off her humanity (S4), and the introduction of Gods, which was interesting to watch. All the better concepts came in season 4, such as the sire bond between Lizzy and Hope, and Aurora coming back for revenge which is just disappointing since it's the last season.
Legacies should have stuck to its original plot, Hope's legacy after her father's passing, but it felt like a children's show at times. So many monsters, which had nothing to do with the TVD series. They relied on monsters so much it became hard to watch, it was so repetitive. A monster shows up at the school, the kids try to figure out what it is, and Hope finds a way to kill it. Every.. season. Too repetitive!! It should have focused more on the witches, vampires, and werewolves. The show grasped for anything different, and in turn, gave us nothing. It should have at least correlated more with TVD, it would have been more of a sequel.
It should have shown us way more depth than it did, and connected Hope more with her roots. Maybe could have even taken us back to Mystic Falls, and shown what happened to Elana and Damon. Absolutely no closure at all or correlation to TVD. The writers really messed up with this "sequel".
