BioWare’s famous storytelling and lovable characters are phenomenal and incorporating that into a TV series is brilliant. I found myself laughing, upset, nostalgic, cheering, and shocked throughout the entire series and will rewatch it. As a longtime fan of the video game series, I’m elated that the show stays within the realm that makes the Dragon Age franchise loved by fans.
The show follows the ending of the third installment of the Dragon Age video game series but this time it’s set in the Tevintar Imperium, a country ran by mages (they are oppressed everywhere else). The new cast of characters are organic and nothing comes off as forced. The plot is easy to follow and well thought out (feels like they’re setting up for the fourth game in my opinion).
BioWare has always been great with representing historically marginalized groups and this show is no exception. That being said: if you’re into fantasy, respectful of people’s different beliefs/ideologies/sexuality/race/ethnicity/culture, enjoy a plot twist, then I highly recommend this show.
