This is not one of Shakepeare’s better plays. Lots of bits he reworked better in other plays.
But the production was superb! It never missed a laugh and sometimes wrung them from most surprising lines. Or made the laugh via stage work.
The cast was pretty well flawless. This play did not stretch Lucy Peacock in the same way the The Bacchae did a few years ago (that was memorable) but her cadence in Shakespearean iambic is masterful.
Not to mention those costumes! Jupiter’s gold wings were over the top.
