This piece of writing is more of an analysis of the characters and my opinions about them than an unbiased review of the entire book. It was a really fine book. I just don't know what to say. I have a lot of thoughts but get dumb-founded when I have to express them like this. Spoilers. Nandita and Annie were both reasonable characters and even though I was of the opinion that housewives are indeed boring and please their in-laws and husband's and it is all that they do, I felt sympathy towards Nandita. Her desires were not stupid, she was just a bit blinded by the comfort zone that she was living in, and wanting Abhay to know everything about her and love her without her taking active participation in it was part of her comfort zone. I resonated with Annie way too much. Her shrewdness did not make me hate her at all. She was ambitious, knew what she wanted and went for it. It was ironic that out of 3 people when 2 people were selected for the position of managing director she was not one of them. I have read a manwha 'Depths of Malice' and Annie reminds of me exactly of the min character. Let us not leave behind the man of the show. I still hate him and think he is a loser. He was neglecting Nandita but never spoke clearly to her what was it that he wanted, just like Nandita. Why did he choose to marry Nandita? In the book we do see the perspective of Nandita, it was because Mark didn't want to marry her and her parents were pressuring her to do, too many other things going on in her life but what was his excuse to marry Nandita when from the very beginning he was not very keen. If he liked children so much and knew from the Beginning that Nandita didn't they why agree to marry? I guess I hate him a bit less after he said he would go to Canada with Annie and raise the child with her. The writing style of this book is kind of wattpadish, it's easy to read, and there is a good flow of events. You immerse in it just good enough. I will nit-pick a bit- I think that telling or revealing the most important event or detail at the very end of the chapter every single time makes me want to skim through the entire chapter very quickly, because subconsciously I already know nothing plot worthy is actually happening here. I have grown a liking for life switch stories after watching movies like The Parent Trap and the Princess Switch and so I am biased to give a higher rating.

I got to know about this book from my 12th grade textbook. This book is a complete guide to emotions of the author about the children who have accepted their fates as people who will continue the lineage of work of their generations and don't see any other viable option. The author wants them to see things differently but they are way too into the trap of the current system to see anything new. This book makes the reader feel pity yet a sense of responsibility towards these children who have lost their childhood. It made me feel that I must have my own contribution in development of the conditions of marginalized people. It also makes me respect people who dare to go against the system and are ready to face challenges that come with it. These children have dreams and when they dare to try to make them come true, it makes me happy.
