Imagine #Godzilla in the inner earthly sanctum of #KingKong, add a bit of #Transformers tech, some cheeky turns out of #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy, and a face-off unlike that as witnessed in the #PlanetOfTheApes reboot (just at grande scale) - this movie is peppered with plenty of analogies -- and all floating without big name superstar actors. That's right, there is no John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew Broderick, Brie Larson, Naomi Watts or Sally Hawkins, no Jessica Lange, Millie Bobby Brown, Tom Hiddleston or Ken Watanabe, not even Jack Black, Frank Azaria, Bryan Cranston, John C. Reilly or Kyle Chandler! It works best when it allows the real stars of the show (the monsters) to naturally communicate without imitating humans. Though, all in all, it's a fairly good, flashy Hollywood CGI ride. Still, it is worlds away from the phenomenal new (and highly recommended) Japanese film series. #godzillaxkongthenewempire
