It's beyond atrocious. I hope Diana's children were advised not to watch it. The mannerisms reminded me of the Spitting Image characters. The Princess had a complex personality with a great sense of humour. Here we are seeing a hysterical and unbalanced woman who is slowly falling apart. How many times must one watch the food-gobbling and vomiting episodes to get the message that she was struggling with bulimia? Didn't we know it already?
The actress, although good-looking, failed to convey Diana's captivating character and charm. She might have done a better job had she watched the many interviews with Diana. And I am not even going to talk about the actors playing the Queen, Charles and the rest of the royal family. They came across as aloof, robotic and deprived of any redeeming features.
It was bad in a hypnotic kind of way - like watching a train crash in slow motion. I can see from the reviews that it was a multimillion-dollar project. It's hard to understand why decent wigs were not included in the budget.
