Marie Rougier

This film is a real disappointment, a waste of time and money. Full of historical inaccuracies, it fails to render the personality of Napoleon, it depicts him as a hardly articulate failure. The spectator is shown a corny boring farce. If the film producer hoped to compare with Charlie Chaplin's genius in The dictator he has proved he is a dwarf and tackled a historical figure too grand for him to grasp. It may be time for him to move away from historical film.
