I was given this book as a gift & am still reading it as a stand alone, but whilst I intend to finish it, I won't be reading any others in the series. I am interested in the setting, having recently planned to walk along the route of the Rochdale Canal, been to the Piece Hall, Hebden Bridge etc, but there are a few niggles I have already found. At the beginning of chapter 6, 'Living in nearby York, she had done a bit of walking along the Rochdale Canal,' - the Rochdale Canal beginning at Sowerby Bridge is about 37 miles from York! Okay, it's not exactly the other side of the country, but it's not exactly local to York either!
Then there is all this stuff about graduation sashes from the secondary school: I have NEVER heard of ANY UK secondary school having what I presume is an American tradition; children may sign their classmates shirts (despite attempts to ban such behaviour) but there is no formal graduation at all.
Then there is the lesbian relationship of Banks & Evie. It adds nothing to the plot, and only serves as yet another example of the LGBTQ being shoehorned into everything.
