This is a moving story (with an unsatisfactory ending) but is so difficult and frustrating to read. Sentences that take up whole pages, no speech marks, erratic use of punctuation, constant unnecessary and overblown analogies. It seems to be a thing now to write in this way (“The Bee Sting” is just as annoying). Do the authors think they’re being clever? They’re not, they’re just being pretentious and annoying, and putting people off reading more of their books.
